According to the latest China customs statistics, China's exports of silicon carbide were about 27000 tons in October, with 18.2% growth from last month, and 40.7% growth on year-on-year basis. From January to October, 2016, the total exports were about 260000 tons, with 1.1% decline on year-on-year basis.
In October, some customers increased the purchase quantity temporarily in October in order to avoid the arrival of goods during Christmas, so the exports of silicon carbide were increased. The silicon carbide export market was going up as expected. Of course, because of the rising cost of silicon carbide, manufacturers can not accept long-term orders signed by the existing price. Therefore, although silicon carbide export market went up in October, the export volume has not risen sharply.
In November, domestic silicon carbide production costs were still rising, and foreign customers were still trying to sign long-term orders, but in the areas of Europe and the United States, the procurement would be reduced because of Christmas. Domestic silicon carbide manufacturers were also in maintaining normal production and operation, and did not expand the production. Therefore, the export volume of China’s silicon carbide in November was expected to remain at around 26000 tons.
In October, China's silicon carbide exported to the United States, about 9400 tons, ranks first, which decreased by 9.9% from last month, and increased by 129.9% on year-on-year basis; Silicon carbide exported to Japan about 5100 tons, ranks the second, with 9.7% decline from a month earlier and 15.7% increase on year-on-year basis. This is good news for most silicon carbide manufacturers.
